Welcome to St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Website
St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School was founded in 1899. We are located in the village of Murton, close to the coastal town of Seaham. Our school was opened on March 15th, 1899 and was extended significantly in 2019. It has a rich history of serving the parish of St. Joseph’s and educating the children of Murton and surrounding villages.
The school has its roots in the tradition of the Catholic faith and aims to provide a warm caring, creative learning environment which supports and develops ‘dignity and excellence of the whole person’ through an understanding of self, diversity and our responsibility for the World we live in.
Staff work hard to ensure that children feel safe, secure and valued. We place great emphasis on creating a caring community where children can develop to their full potential as independent learners and good citizens. There are high expectations regarding behaviour, school uniform and working hard to develop our talents.
Children in our school come from a range of different backgrounds and cultures and showing kindness, respect and tolerance is always high on our list of priorities.
Gospel values of ‘love’ and ‘forgiveness’ are values that we share and encourage across the school family.
Parents who are looking for school places for their children are encouraged to contact the school office and make an appointment to visit our school.
Our website contains information for parents and carers including curriculum information, newsletters, admission guidance and policies.
You can also view our School Brochure if you are considering sending your child to our school or would like to know how we are performing.
If the information you require is not on these pages, please contact the school and we will do our best to help.
