Hello Class 1,
Here are some ideas for how to prepare for Year 1 over the Summer. Well done to everyone in Class 1 at home and at school for trying your best and for being brave through this experience. We can’t wait to be altogether again in September. Have a lovely Summer Break!

Class 1 Home Learning Summer Work
Phonics
Hello Class 1,
Great news! Letters and Sounds are creating phonics videos to teach the Summer term sounds we are missing and this is the scheme of learning we use at school. The classes will be live on the Letters and Sounds youtube page at 10am every weekday and will teach phase 3 sounds. There is also a class at 11am to practise blending. If you are not able to watch the sessions at these time, don’t worry as after the live showing the classes then become videos on the Letters and Sounds youtube page.
*Adults please note – when using this resource please ensure you are watching and engaging in it with your child. Due to age restrictions children must not access YouTube by themselves without adult supervision and St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School does not expect them to use YouTube for other purposes.*

You could extend the lesson further by dictating a sentence to your child with a word that has the phonics sound, or by asking them to create their own sentence with a given word that contains the phonics sounds.
